Foreign Language

Another part of our program that helps round out the children's experience is our language enrichment. Each age level studies a different language, once a week, for the school year. We are fortunate to have families of many nationalities, allowing parents who are fluent in languages other than English to teach the children. Currently, the fours are learning Japanese, and the threes are learning Chinese. For the first time this year, the twos are also participating in the language enrichment and are learning American Sign Language. With their young minds being open to language instruction, we strive to give the children a solid basis for true language study later by exposing them to a different language during these early years.




 

Thanks to the language program, my daughter knows all about Chinese New Year, can teach her baby brother how to sing 'Twinkle, Twinkle' in Chinese and has a true appreciation for cultures other than her own.
